Quilt appraisals are important for many reasons. For most people, the appraisal is just for insurance purposes, in case of disaster. Insurance companies will want proof of value for a quilt just as they would for jewelry or silver, paintings or any other collection. If not, a quilt is just a picture on the wall or a piece of bedcovering to be replaced at the local department store. Usually the amount of money allowed would not even purchase the fabric needed to remake the quilt.
I have taken American Quilter's Society quilt appraisal courses with Bobbie Aug and Gerald Roy in Paducah, KY. Also, I have taken classes in quilt and fabric dating from Bobbie Aug, Terry Thompson and Eileen Tristain. I am a professional quilt appraiser and have done numerous appraisals since I began this sideline to my quilting.
